I’m publishing a link to this rather than the image itself. Urban Outfitters UK is selling a card (buyers are told “Send your greetings in style with this charming card.”) that features that t-word slur, in the context of yet another story of a trans person hiding their status and “shocking” a date with their genitals. Transphobic, stigmatizing, stereotyping, crass, ugly, demeaning, disgusting.
Urban Outfitters sucks in so many ways, but this is new and unbelievable. This requires more than just my usual signoff. Let them know how you feel, on Twitter @uoeurope and Facebook. Let them know how entirely unacceptable this is.
And tell them, hey, Urban Outfitters (Europe): STFU!
That’s Sanford, Florida Police Chief Bill Lee again, this time blaming Trayvon Martin for his own murder. I can’t even with this man. I’m not even bothering to link because reading the whole thing is just nauseating.
I’m thinking I need some kind of graphic with an award, because the chief is perilously close to winning my:
STFU FOREVER YOU COMPLETE AND UTTER BAG OF DICKS
award.
Bill Lee, shut the fuck up. Sit all the way down and shut up forever. Don’t ever speak again on this earth. Just shut up and stay shut up.
Gregory Cowles in today’s New York Times. Jodi Picoult has the number one book in the country and a giant promotional billboard in New York City. The entirety of what Cowles had to say about that (in today’s “Inside the List” feature in the Sunday Book Review) is shown there, with a hint of what he really felt he needed to talk about: Jonathan Franzen. Because when a female author finally snags a #1 position, what’s really important is what some self-important man thinks about her (and the social media she uses to her professional benefit while he dislikes it).
Gregory, if you can’t talk about Picoult as a writer with a twenty year career, or about the fact that this is her third debut at the #1 position, and instead have to shift the focus to the Times darling boy Franzen, then just talk about Franzen. Leave Jodi out of it, because you clearly don’t have anything important to say about her. She’s not your springboard.
Oh, and Gregory? STFU!
Bonnie Bramlett being completely wrong, completely classist, completely ugly and just ridiculous about the “politics of pregnancy and hypocrisy” in today’s Minneapolis/St. Paul Star Tribune.
Bonnie, you’re just so offensive it’s appalling. This was so bad I could barely pick out just one bit to quote. I heartily welcome you to STFU.
That’s the mealy mouthed “advocacy” of Trish Simons, president of the Hamilton chapter of Autism Ontario upon learning that Canada is deporting a family because their 12 year old son has autism because the disorder “might” cost Canada too much money (despite the fact that thus far, the few treatments and accommodations that the boy has needed have been fully funded by his family).
Oh Trish, Trish, Trish. Advocacy? You’re doing it wrong. All the way wrong. Have a seat. And STFU.
Sanford, Florida police chief Bill Lee, trying to make himself the story as his department continues to fail to arrest or charge George Zimmerman for what’s beginning to look like a full blown execution style murder of 17 year old Trayvon Martin.
Chief Lee, eat a bowl of dicks, and STFU, you racist scumbag.
That’s Maryland State Senator Edward R. Reilly (R-Anne Arundel) reacting to a bill that prohibits smoking in a car when children under 8 are passengers. I’m just gonna let this one simmer.
Oh, but hey, Eddie? STFU.

Thank you! This is better than what these quotes were doing to me and my friends yesterday, which involved incoherent growling, copious swearing and a general raging!

The billboard was disgusting because no one gets to co-opt images of slavery for their own political agenda. There are, off the top of my head, about 94 ways they could’ve actually protested the problem (that the Pennsylvania legislature made a proclamation that 2012 is the “year of the Bible”) including pointing toward PA’s growing (though still limited) religious diversity or that pesky First freaking Amendment.
Instead they exploitatively use
an image of a black person (literally) in bondage, don’t explain their problem with the legislature’s proclamation and expect people to be angry at the legislature because of something they don’t get, taken out of context from what 85+ percent of those who would’ve seen it consider their holiest of holy documents? No.
It was ugly, it was snarky, it wasn’t informative and it was racist as hell. Because they were right about the proclamation doesn’t give them a pass for this stunt by a long shot.
My jackass governor, Tom Corbett (R-PA) on the state’s proposed mandatory preabortion ultrasound bill, proving that he doesn’t understand the issues, doesn’t understand the mandated procedure, and doesn’t give a damn, because it’s not going to be his body invaded.
Hey Tom? STFU. Just STFU and stay shut up.
Adam Wolfberg, OB/GYN complaining that when a homebirthing patient transferred into his care at Tufts University Medical Center, he was forced to do his job. On this basis, Dr. Wolfberg has arrogantly tried to make a “case” against homebirth. He failed.
Adam, bubbeleh? STFU.
That’s Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama, also jawing about the Violence Against Women Act reauthorization. Those “matters” that the GOP are so twitchy about? Expanding IPV programs for Native Americans and those in same-sex relationships and expanding the possibility that immigrants whose marriages are their qualifier for remaining in the U.S. can retain legal residency status even if they leave those marriages because of IPV. Shocking stuff, really. How dare the Democrats look out for people being stalked, threatened, controlled, isolated, beaten and raped?
Hey Jefferson Beauregard Sessions (not even joking) as usual, today you need to STFU!
That’s Senator Thune’s feelings about the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. The reason for bringing it up now is quite simply that the programs funded through VAWA need to have the money reauthorized. But that’s apparently not as important as some other top items in the Republican agenda like… uh… um… uh…
Senator Thune, good morning, now, STFU!
Bill Frezza, who couldn’t simply make the point in his Forbes Magazine blitherings today that he doesn’t think employers should have to give ANY health insurance to their employees at all and instead had to lard it up with some ugly misogynistic bullshit, slutshaming and justifying it in the name of… who the hell knows what?
Bill Frezza, please drink a nice hearty cup of STFU.
Really? Really?
Oh, American Atheists and PA Nonbelievers, I don’t even know where to begin to explain to you how disgusting this is.
Please, be the first in line to STFU.
